It seems Rudy’s Pizza Napoletana are like buses. You wait ages for one to arrive then two turn up at once! But we’re thankful all the same. Close behind the opening of its second Birmingham location back in February, it will be opening a new pizza spot in Harborne later this year.
Rudy’s first location in the city centre has long been among the best pizzerias in Birmingham for us. A relaxed and traditional pizzeria, it follows the methods and artistry of Naples pizza. So you’re guaranteed a world-beating slice every time you visit. It’s the closest you can come to a break in Italy without leaving the second city.
“We are delighted to announce that our next Rudy’s site will be located in Birmingham’s Harborne,” said Neal Bates, Managing Director of Rudy’s. “Birmingham has been incredibly welcoming to the Rudy’s famiglia since we first opened here in 2019, and we can’t wait to expand our sites in this city. Harborne, with its audience of young professionals and families, is a great location for Rudy’s and we can’t wait to open our doors in the summer.”
Rudy’s Pizza uses only 24-hour fermented dough, made with Caputo ‘00’ flour, and high-quality ingredients imported from Naples – including San Marzano tomatoes, grown next to Mount Vesuvius, and Fior di Latte mozzarella – in its pizzas. Since launching the original Rudy’s Pizza in Ancoats in 2015, the much-loved pizzeria has opened locations all across the UK, including London, Manchester and Leeds.
Some of our favourites include the Calabrese pizza topped with tomato, fior di latte, basil and spicy ‘nduja sausage. While their white pizza, known as Porchetta, features roast porchetta, sage roasted potatoes, smoked mozzarella, and caramelised onions. Good to make you forget all about red sauce pizzas. Rudy’s menu is always adapting and evolving, however, and always has a surprise hidden up its sleeve.
Louis Symeonides, General Manager of Rudy’s Harborne said: “We’re really looking forward to bringing Rudy’s Pizza to Harborne’s bustling high street. Since our initial announcement, we’ve been welcomed with open arms by the local community and can’t wait to open our doors to welcome them in.”
The neighbourhood pizzeria will take over the former Hawkshead bar, at 77 High Street, on July 8. To celebrate, Rudy’s Harborne will be giving away thousands of free pizzas when it opens. You can learn more about winning a free pizza pie here.
