There’s nothing I love more than a proper country pub, but I’ve never come across anything like this before. The Pub in the Woods does exactly what it says on the tin. Serving pints in a campfire-like setting, the self-proclaimed “countryside’s favourite pub” is tucked away in these Derbyshire woodlands, only an hour from Birmingham.
When lockdown hit the outdoor activity centre Wild Park Derbyshire, the family-run business decided to ‘diversify’. They transformed a chunk of its outdoor space into a new socialising hub with a fully stocked bar. The Pub in The Woods was born, and has remained an exciting Midlands destination ever since—and a TikTok sensation too.

Lit up with fire pits and festoon lights, here, sit down with a pint to watch live local bands and soak in the air of the Great Outdoors™. Just remember to bring your coats, blankets, and hot water bottles, for when the temperature drops—you can even sip on mulled wine or a boozy hot chocolate in the winter months.
Choose between an array of seating when you book—including fire pits, tipis and picnic benches—and make sure to pre-order your food too, like burgers, pizzas, jacket potatoes. And if you’re making the trip, take advantage of Wild Park Derbyshire’s paintball and laser tag sessions.
