The European Athletics Championships are the only major global outdoor track and field championships left to never been staged in the UK. That changes this summer, with Europe’s best athletes set to compete at the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham, and the demand for tickets has shocked organisers.
Following an exclusive pre-sale on Monday and the general sale on Wednesday, more than 120,000 tickets have now been sold across all sessions. To accommodate this ‘unprecedented demand’ for the European Athletics Championships, additional seating will be added at the Alexander Stadium this summer (August 10 to 16).
The Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evening sessions are already sold out, and many other sessions are approaching capacity. Additional seating structures will be installed for every session, which guarantees an incredible atmosphere for our British athletes competing on home turf.
“The European Athletics Championships is one of seven major events we’re hosting over the next three years, and with extra tickets available, even more people will get the chance to see world-class stars up close,” said Mayor of the West Midlands Richard Parker.

These other major events include the UK Athletics Outdoor Championships, on June 20 and 21, also at Alexander Stadium, and ICC Women’s T20 World Cup (June 12 to July 5, 2026) at Edgbaston. In 2028, Villa Park will officially host four games at the Euros.
When are more tickets on sale?
Tickets for all sessions, including the high-demand weekend evening sessions, will go back on General Sale at 10am on Wednesday, March 4, 2026. But those keen to get tickets should sign up for the exclusive pre-sale, opening at 10am on Monday, March 2, by heading here.
