Zero deaths were recorded in the daily Coronavirus figures today.

For the first time since July 30, 2020, the UK has today recorded zero deaths related to Covid-19 in a day. This makes it only the second time this has happened since the beginning of the pandemic. 3,165 new cases of Covid-19 were reported.

Data reports the number of deaths each day within 28 days of a positive Covid-19 test. In total, 127,782 people in Britain have died from the virus.

Following a weekend the numbers can take time to catch up due to lags on reporting, and the UK has just enjoyed a long bank holiday weekend. However, the number goes some way in proving the success of the country’s vaccine programme throughout the year.

93,103 more people also received their first vaccine dose in this period, with 195,546 receiving their second dose. This was in some part helped by a huge effort at Twickenham Stadium yesterday, where anyone aged 18+ could receive their dose without an appointment. It is thought that over 11,000 people were vaccinated at this space. It initially was open to anyone aged over 30, but organisers later invited younger people to receive vaccines to ensure stocks didn’t go to waste.

Anyone aged 30 or over can now receive a vaccine, which you can book via the NHS website.
