Every time I’ve written about flower fields, you’ve lapped them up! I see the appeal, of course—what better way to escape the hustle and bustle of Birmingham life than a calm and kaleidoscopic field of colourful flowers? So I just had to tell you about Shropshire Petal Fields.
Less than an hour from Birmingham—halfway between Telford and Stafford—Shropshire Petal Fields offers a rainbow of bright pink, purple, yellow, and white flowers near Newport. There’s everything from delphiniums to cornflowers, sunflowers to wildflowers tucked away in this hidden Shropshire countryside spot.

The bad news? You’ve only got a window to visit. Having opened on July 24 this year, it’s only open until Sunday, August 3. Plus, there are three dog-friendly dates on Wednesday, July 30, Saturday, August 2 and Sunday, August 3—making for the best day out for your four-legged friends.
Pooch or not, Shropshire Petal Fields is the perfect picnic location (pack the cameras, and maybe a professional photographer)—with an on-site cafe, as well as the chance to pre-order a picnic hamper from The Host’s Pantry to be collected onsite. But you’re free to bring your own food to enjoy underneath the tipis and among the flowers.

That’s not all, because your little ones can play until their hearts’ content on the Wild Woodland Walk, and you can buy your own freshly cut flower bouquet. Please don’t pick your own flowers, though. Remember, this is a working farm where they make award-winning biodegradable petals and dried flowers.
There are both morning and afternoon slots on all days to choose from. An adult ticket costs £9.95, a child aged 3-16 is £6.95, and a child aged under 3 is £2.95. Family tickets (two adults and two children) cost £32.95. To get your tickets and learn more about Shropshire Petal Fields, head here.
