Take that Manchester! You might be trying to take Birmingham’s claim as the UK’s second city, but we’re still a prettier city than you. Because a search for the UK’s most aesthetic cities sees Birmingham rank third thanks to its picturesque canals and incredible skyline. [Insert third-place celebration meme here.]
In its search for the UK’s most aesthetic cities, Alan Boswell Landlord Insurance popped on over to the image-sharing social media Pinterest for help. Essentially, the internet’s go-to place for all things pretty and beautiful, aesthetics is its bread and butter. Searching for the number of pins with the tag ‘[city]+homes’, it created an aesthetic score out of 10 to find the UK cities with the most beautiful homes.
The top spot for the UK’s most aesthetic cities, unsurprisingly, went to London. The capital picked up an unbeatable number of pins on Pinterest (84,830) thanks to dramatically stunning feats of architecture like St Paul’s Cathedral and the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich. It gained an overall score of 9.63. Meanwhile, the artsy city of Bristol came in second with a score of 9.15, and 14,636 pins on the picture-sharing social media.
Birmingham came in third in the rankings – beating out the likes of Manchester, Edinburgh and Sheffield to take a podium place. With an overall score of 8.52 and 8,569 pins, pretty pictures of the Library of Birmingham and the Cube featured heavily. While Birmingham’s stunning canals also proved popular.
Alan Boswell Group said: “Birmingham proudly showcases its rich heritage through elegant Victorian and Edwardian structures, such as the stunning Birmingham Town Hall and the grand Victoria Law Courts. Beyond its iconic landmarks, Birmingham’s picturesque canals, green spaces, and bustling neighbourhoods contribute to its distinctive allure, which continues to captivate residents and visitors alike.”
