We’re all hoping for a warm winter this year in the UK. Be it to benefit our bones or our bank accounts. But if the worst comes, we’ve discovered the best way to stay toasty over the cold months coming. A huge new winter pergola is coming to Birmingham.
The Watershed is an outdoor extension of the award-winning bar The Canal House. Situated on the waterside, the outdoor venue will provide roaring fires, faux fur throws and not-so-seasonal street food. Meaning guests can enjoy the winter no matter the weather.
The stunning outdoor terrace on Bridge Street will serve a selection of warming drinks too. Including winter cocktails, hot chocolate and mulled wine, to wrap your hands and lips around. Cranking the heat up to 11 (the same number our thermostat will be stuck on all winter) will be servings of Mexican street food.
The mouth-watering highlight has to be ‘grammable birria tacos. Stuffed with slow cooked pulled birria beef, cheese, pico de gallo, the taco is then grilled until crispy, and served with a juicy dipping sauce. If after something to share, however, look no further than the loaded nachos. It comes with slow cooked chilli beef, pickled jalapenos, pico de gallo and crème fraiche, with additions of crispy fish, buffalo chicken or crispy celeriac soft flour tacos available.
For those after something a little more seasonal, Bratwurst hot dogs will also be serving up a choice of grilled pork Bratwurst or vegan Moving Mountains hot dogs.
The Watershed will launch this Thursday (October 13) with a festive party on Birmingham’s canals from 5pm. Alongside warming food and drink, there will be live musicians and DJs playing throughout the evening. It’s free to attend on a walk-in basis, but recommended you arrive early to avoid disappointment.
Both The Canal House and The Watershed will be open Monday to Thursday from 12 until late, and from 10 on Friday to Sunday. A jam-packed roster of live musicians will continue to keep the vibes pumping, and the people moving too. We expect The Watershed to become a huge hit during the winter months with locals. And while you will be able to walk-in, tables are available to book too. To ensure yours, head here.
