Winter is most definitely for snuggling up with a drink in a warm and cosy pub alongside great company, however one Birmingham public house has gone all out with a dreamy outdoor nest. There’s not many other better ways to spend the winter nights than being wrapped in a blanket, drinking and laughing with loved ones, and this pub provides exactly that.
The Plough in Harborne has created a magical winter garden that is pretty enough to make you question whether to sit inside or outside on a cold night. Most would think it’s a no-brainer to head indoors, however this winter garden is decked out to make your visit rather toasty.
With furs, blankets, hot water bottles and all the boozy (as well as non-boozy) hot drinks you could want, plus fully covered and heated, outdoor dining has never been so comfy. The Plough is serving up a selection of drinks for you to enjoy in their dreamy winter garden such as luxury hot chocolates with the option to add Frangelico or Cotswold Cream liqueur; homemade chai masala with coconut milk and cinnamon; mulled wine; Irish coffee; mulled cider; and melted white chocolate with hot milk and orange syrup with an optional addition of Jaffa Cake flavoured rum.
If the drinks and warmth aren’t enough to entice you, The Plough is elegantly decorated with fairy lights both inside and outside in its winter garden, adding to the magic of the pub’s cosy setting. Plus, a pub isn’t a pub without its hearty grub, and this Harborne drinking hole has a menu to match its comforting offerings ranging from nibbles and small plates to pizzas and large plates featuring burgers, stews and pies.
Gorge on olives, antipasti, loaded fries and crispy cauliflower bites or enjoy a feast with the likes of chilli and ‘nduja pork pizza, turkey and cranberry cubanos, jackfruit shepherd’s pie or cod and chorizo stew. Plus, save room for dessert as The Plough’s puddings include sticky toffee pudding with toffee sauce, dark chocolate and vegan ice cream; white chocolate cheesecake with sea salt caramel and Oreo biscuit base; crème brûlée; and the festive wintry classic, Christmas pudding with vanilla ice cream, all whilst you’re snuggled up with a blanket. Some might go as far to say, this set-up is better than home.
Plus, from February 5, you can cosy up in the winter garden and watch a spot of rugby, as the pub will be screening the Six Nations matches.
