British BBQ culture is rubbish. Don’t try and argue. We’ve had enough of plastic cutlery, soggy coleslaw, burnt sausages, and undercooked burgers on floury bread rolls while standing underneath a beach umbrella during another short summer rain shower. If there’s one thing that Americans do better than Brits, it’s BBQ.
But you don’t have to travel to the States to try some authentic smoked meats. After much anticipation, Orleans Smokehouse is opening in Solihull next Monday (February 19). Providing authentic New Orleans-inspired BBQ flavours, this ‘low ‘n’ slow’-style cooking – bursting with tender, juicy and tasty meats – is as far from a British barbeque as you can imagine.
This is real Deep South eating – with Pitmasters using American smokers through the night to create rich flavours, Southern-style spice rubs, and generous portions filling the menu. Located on Stratford Road, the new BBQ restaurant is now ready to open its doors following a refurbishment from the old Harvester. Orleans Smokehouse will open every day, from 10am on weekdays and 9am on weekends.
Dennis Deare, Divisional Director at Mitchells & Butlers, said: “Orleans Smokehouse is more than another restaurant: it’s a celebration of Southern culture, good food, and bringing people together. We’re excited to open our doors in Solihull to host our guests as they celebrate birthdays, kick back with friends and entertain the kids and catch up over the latest sport.”
Choose from the Ultimate Orleans Breakfast, Crispy Shrimp Tacos and House Smoked Chicken Wings. Plus, a selection of dishes straight from the Smoker such as mouth-watering Ribs, Overnight Pulled Pork and 10-hour Smoked Brisket. Those with a sweet tooth can indulge in dessert, with kids bound to have a great time at the self-serve Frozen Custard Toppings Station.
Elsewhere, your little ones will also be taken care of with the Orleans cinema room, outdoor family games, activity packs and Mardi Gras masks. A different food and drink offer will be available every day in the restaurant. To take a look at the menus and learn more about Orleans Smokehouse head here.
