Breakfast, it’s the most important meal of the day. But it is a little boring. Well, no longer, as one of Birmingham’s best burger joints has teamed up with Kellogg’s to create this cereal-coated fried chicken. Fat Hippo had made the breakfast of champions here!
(Before we go any further, we should probably point out that Fat Hippo isn’t actually open for breakfast – unless you wake up at 11:30 am – we’re just enjoying this fun bit.) The burger team is spicing up the breakfast staple of Crunchy Nut Salted Caramel (which as cereals go, is pretty darn tasty anyway), by coating it around chicken strips. And it comes served with a vanilla ice cream shake dip too!
Cereal-coated fried chicken has been all the rage on TikTok, but now it’s hitting the high street for a limited time only. This sweet and savoury symphony will be available at Fat Hippo’s Bennetts Hill location between September 18 and October 2. You can also get it at its other UK locations and on food delivery apps.
Fat Hippo Head Chef, Richard Nelson said: “Our BurgerLab team thrive off exciting challenges! Our specials allow them the creative freedom in exploring new flavours and ingredients to find new ways to showcase the iconic Fat Hippo taste experience. When we first spotted the cereal chicken trend we knew we had to seek out the best, it’s been an absolute pleasure working with a household name such as Kellogg’s.”
We know Fat Hippo well for its crazy burger creations. Its iconic burger PB+JJ, overflows with beef patties, American cheese, chunky peanut butter, bacon jam and smoked chilli jello. And what about those candied bacon milkshakes? But this dipper into the fried chicken world is just as moreish and mind-boggling.
Rui Frias, Kellogg’s senior marketing manager said: “We know Crunchy Nut fans don’t just eat our cereal for breakfast – they like to cook with it too. This nut-ouriously tasty recipe, created by iconic burger brand Fat Hippo, brings a Crunchy Nut Salted Caramel flavour twist to the cereal coated chicken trend. We’re delighted to be partnering with them to bring this to cereal lovers across the UK.”
