Dua Lipa has dominated the pop music scene for the last few years. It’s pretty hard not to hum along to her catchy beats, or sing out loud to the lyrics – and not sassily wiggle your fingers along to New Rules. However, come June, you’ll be able to hear these chart toppers in a brand-new, pared back way: played by a string quartet, surrounded by candlelight. Yep, that’s right. Candlelight: A Tribute to Dua Lipa is here, and it’ll Blow Your Mind. Grab your tickets here.
On June 2, Birmingham Cathedral will glow under the light of hundreds of candles, as the talented string quartet take to the front of the church to perform two 60-minute shows. The first will be at 6.30pm, and the second at 8.30pm, so you can choose a pre- or post-dinner show that suits your schedule best. The Dua Lipa hits performed by candlelight will include New Rules, Scared To Be Lonely, Levitating and many more.
As the soft candlelight illuminates the stained glass windows, and the smooth tones of the string instruments bounce off the 18th-century walls, Birmingham Cathedral will be transformed into an intimate venue. It’ll be easy to forget you’re in one of Birmingham’s grand churches; rather, it’ll feel like it’s just you and the performers in the darkened environment. If you’re Scared To Be Lonely at Candlelight: A Tribute to Dua Lipa, grab your mates or date, and get your tickets here.
