As spring blooms, Candlelight is getting into the spirit of the season with a series of candlelit concerts adorned by a gorgeous flowery display. Taking place inside the historic Birmingham Cathedral, there are tributes dedicated to ABBA and Ennio Morricone that music lovers can look forward to this season.
Candlelight: Ed Sheeran meets Coldplay
Both these artists are known for their emotional songwriting. Whether it’s Coldplay’s piano-driven songs or Ed Sheeran’s acoustic hits with pop influences, these artists have the ability to connect deeply with their audience and they do it in huge arenas and stadiums too! This season, Candlelight is giving their biggest anthems a classical twist in a gorgeous setting. Take your seat in St Paul’s Church and hear their most beloved hits from “Clocks” to “Shape of You” like never before, performed by a talented string quartet.
Candlelight: A Tribute to David Bowie
Is there life on mars? We don’t have the answer yet — but what we do know is that a magical candlelit tribute to the iconic David Bowie is making its way to Birmingham this season. At the magnificent Birmingham Botanical Gardens, The Sekine Quartet will be performing Bowie’s must beloved hits, from “Ziggy Stardust” and “Starman” to “Heroes” and of course, “Life on Mars?”, amid a sea of twinkling candles.
