Come this December, we expect the West Midlands to become a lot more bright and beautiful. Christmas lights will obviously fill our homes, streets and shops, but we never thought our skies would be receiving a glow-up. But keep an eye out for a ‘first-of-its-kind’ drone light show over Wolverhampton this winter.
The drone light show company Celestial – the team behind this year’s Eurovision and London New Year’s Eve shows – will launch Evolution on December 14. Shining brightly over Wolverhampton Racecourse, this epic new drone light show promises to take audiences on a journey through time and space. Prepare for the whole family to be mesmerised.
The narrated story starts with the Big Bang, the explosive inception of the universe and journeys into the emergence of the sun, our solar system and the planets that inhabit it. The cosmic voyage, accompanied by an original cinematic soundtrack, will then guide viewers through the origins of conscious life on Earth. From the humble beginnings of single-cell organisms to the reign of the dinosaurs and the diverse tapestry of life on Earth today.
John Hopkins, Celestial co-founder & Chief Creative Officer comments: “Evolution has been three years in the making. This is so much more than a drone light show, it’s an experience with stadium scale, created to bring audiences together using a new medium to tell the story of time”.
Combining cutting-edge technology and creativity, Evolution will be a mesmerising feat. The event itself is suitable for the whole family and for all ages to enjoy. In addition to the main show, event-goers can revel in festive fun with fairground rides, music and a food village with local traders.
Paul Vesper, Executive Director of Wolverhampton Racecourse states: “We are so pleased to be partnering with Celestial and Yuup on this first-of-its-kind event. Being able to bring this show to Wolverhampton is incredibly exciting and we can’t wait to share the experience with our community”.
Tickets for this drone light show cost £11 and can be purchased here.
