Looking for somewhere to soak up the magical views of Birmingham Christmas Market? Well, Dishoom has launched the ideal spot. Setting up on the veranda, snuggle beneath cosy blankets and by warming heaters at the Indian restaurant’s new pop-up Christmas bar.
Overlooking the city’s sparkling Frankfurt market, you can enjoy various festive drinks too – like Chai Eggnog, Mulled Wine or Naughty Chai. All for the low low price of £5.50 to put you in the mood for Christmas (that’s cheaper than the market itself). Between December 12 to 15, a line-up of festive entertainment will heighten the festive spirit only further.
The Festive Tipples bar will be open from 5pm until 10.30pm on weekdays, and from midday on weekdays. But that’s not the only way Dishoom is celebrating Xmas this year. The ‘café’ has some brand new festive foods on the menu too served inside the restaurant.
Firstly, there’s the Turkey Raan Bun (there’s also a Vegan Raan Bun too, if you were wondering). Using a whole turkey leg, prepared in the traditional Indian raan style until meltingly tender, the meat is then piled into a warm brioche bun (£13.90). This is then loaded with festive flavours, like cranberry mayo, spinach, onions and brie. It also comes ‘slaw, salli crisp-chips and deep-fried green chillies.
For dessert, Dishoom has taken the traditional bread-and-butter pudding and given it a festive twist. Bun Maska (£7.50) is baked with a mingling of nuts and custard, with lots of nutmeg and a hint of cardamom. Served with a scoop of cinnamon ice cream to finish.
Throughout the festive period (until December 24), Dishoom is also serving a Christmas Feast for £42 per person. You’ll receive an abundance of serving plates – from Turkey Raan with all the trimmings (broccoli, chilli sprouts, spiced cranberry chutney) to House Black Daal. This is the ideal option for bringing family and friends together this Christmas.
