Birmingham’s Frankfurt Christmas Market is so close we can almost feel it already. Twinkly lights, toasty mulled wine, funfair rides, glass baubles, the big wheel, hot chocolate, stollen, ice skating, bratwursts, hot chocolate wooden decorations. There’s only one more sleep ‘til Christmas in Birmingham starts (November 2).
As the largest authentic German Christmas market outside of Germany and Austria – attracting around 5.5 million visitors each year – we don’t need to be told that we have one of the best Christmas markets in the UK. But a new study by London Northwestern Railway (LNR), looking at the most in-demand Christmas markets on TikTok, has done so anyway.
According to the study, the Birmingham Frankfurt Market has received over 11.5 million views on the social media app. Other Christmas markets like the Liverpool Christmas Market (1.4m views), Southbank Centre Winter Market (638.3k views) and Coventry Christmas Market (5.7k views) came nowhere near.
“Birmingham’s Christmas market has become an annual staple in the UK’s second city – attracting both local residents and tourists to see for themselves what all the hype is about,” said LNR about Birmingham’s beloved Christmas market.
“As the largest authentic German Christmas market outside of Germany or Austria, you can expect to find a large range of traditional gifts and a selection of tempting food and drink on offer. As well as an unmissable live music programme! So, if you’re a fan of Pretzels, schnitzels, bratwursts, weissbier (wheat beer), or hot chocolate, there’s no doubt you’ll be in your element here in Birmingham.”
