Brought over from our twin city of Frankfurt in 1997, the now iconic Christmas market is undeniably the biggest event in Birmingham all year. It’s the largest authentic German Christmas market outside of Germany and Austria and attracts around 5.5 million visitors each festive period. With over a hundred stalls filling New Street and Victoria Square in 2024 from November, Birmingham Christmas Market is the very best the UK has to offer!
When is Birmingham Christmas Market?
Not only is it one of the biggest, but Birmingham’s Frankfurt Christmas Market is often the longest in the UK too. This year, it’s on one more day than last year, a total of 54 days for just shy of eight weeks. It’s returning on Friday, November 1 until Tuesday, December 24.
What time is it on?
- Monday to Thursday: 11am to 9pm
- Friday: 11am to 9.30pm
- Saturday: 10am to 9.30pm
- Sunday: 10am to 9pm
On Remembrance Sunday (November 10) the market will open from 1pm.
What can I find at Birmingham Christmas Market?
There are over 100 stalls at this year’s Frankfurt Christmas Market. You’ll be able to eat and drink everything from stollen, pretzels and bratwurst to weissbier, mulled wine and hot chocolate. Elsewhere, pick up a large range of traditional gifts – like handcrafted wooden decorations, delicate glass baubles, crystal lamps, leatherwork, toys, jewellery and so much more!
On top, the market will feature musicians from Germany and Birmingham for lunchtime and evening music sessions, Monday to Friday, while expect performances all day on Saturday and Sunday. Meanwhile, also returning to the area on November 1, is the legendary big wheel and ice rink, between 10am and 10pm.
