We should all be aware of Digbeth Dining Club by now. The team behind Hockley Social Club, Herbert’s Yard, and countless events in Birmingham have played a huge part in the city’s flourishing street food scene. Now it’s set on changing the city centre’s lunchtime offerings for workers, residents and visitors with the launch of its Lunch Club.
What is Lunch Club?
Say goodbye to the ‘meal deal’, this team-up between Digbeth Dining Club and Arena Central sees a weekly food residency launch on Wednesday, April 10. Aimed at office and retail workers – which includes local places like HM Government Hub, the UK headquarters of HSBC and the University of Birmingham’s The Exchange – Lunch Club will “curate a bespoke casual dining offer on the Alpha Tower plaza”.
Jack Brabant, Director of Digbeth Dining Club, said: “This is our first foray into weekly lunch markets, so to join forces with Arena Central feels like the perfect location to showcase what DDC is all about – quality street food. We have a huge roster of traders that many people in Birmingham may already know of, however, fundamentally this is also an opportunity for anyone who may not be able to get to our venues or events on weekends to get an easy grab-and-go lunch option.”
Running between 11:00 and 15:00 every Wednesday, plenty of Birmingham favourites have already been confirmed for Lunch Club residencies. With a focus on “encouraging growth for the city region’s independent hospitality industry”, this includes the likes of Disco Fries, Fat Snags, Hangry Moose, Only Jerkin’, Street Souvlaki, and Scran Man. This might only be the beginning of better lunches in Birmingham, with more lunch clubs set to launch over the year!
Michael Andrew, owner of Street Souvlaki, said: “We are excited to be serving our delicious fresh, natural, and healthy Greek BBQ souvlaki kebabs to the city’s daytime workers and we are planning a menu exclusively for this event. We’re thrilled to be a part of it and look forward to trading alongside some of Digbeth Dining Club’s top street food traders.”
What else is Digbeth Dining Club up to this year?
