You’re likely bored of us reminding you that Birmingham has no beaches. Yes, there are some amazing coastal towns and beaches, but they’re not exactly within walking distance. But what if we told you that very soon Birmingham will get its very own beach?
Our landlocked city will have all the fun of a seaside town this summer – sand, slides and a funfair – so you won’t need to worry about a two-hour drive anywhere. The return of Birmingham Beach and FunFair to Smithfields will offer all ages the ultimate summer event in the city centre. So dig out the basket and spades today!
This year all your favourite attractions are back, plus some added new thrilling rides to ensure a memorable summer experience. Not only is there a proper sandy beach but a splash pool, a wide selection of thrilling rides – like Wild Mouse Roller Coaster, Helter Skelter, Pirate Ship, Dodgems, Waltzer and more – and, of course, ice cream and a bar.
In addition to the rides, visitors can enjoy fun and games with exciting prizes up for grabs. You can also expect a proper food court area full of sweet treats and fairground foods. The food vendors will offer all your funfair favourites, including sweet treats, a slush zone, and coffee to keep you energised throughout your visit.
Buckets of sand have already arrived to put Birmingham in the holiday mood – Birmingham Beach and FunFair opening at Smithfields tomorrow (July 19) until August 26. The fair will be open daily from 2pm to 10pm, offering free admission for everyone. It’s brought to you by Danter Attractions – the team behind the Big Wheel currently in Pigeon Park.
Birmingham Beach is set up on Pershore Street, Smithfield, B5 4RW. To learn more head to the Facebook page here.
