Check out the ‘festival that bites’ for unusual, edgy and spectacular theatre

Fierce Festival is one of the UK’s most respected live art festivals—embracing theatre, dance, music, installations, activism, digital practices and parties. It’s taking over various iconic venues across Birmingham this weekend. Informed by intersectional queer politics that challenges established understandings of art and provides a platform to marginalised artists, you can check out more about the festival here.

Set off on a chilling after-dark, immersive ghost cruise through Birmingham’s canals that delves into the “violence, tragedy and unexplained history hidden along the waterways.” You will hear chilling tales of murder, drowning and fatal accidents, including the legend of the Towpath Ripper—expect smoke, pyrotechnics and strobe lighting, as well as tales based on documented events, local legends and evidence-based accounts.
Watch ‘Burlesque The Musical’ at The Alexandra
From executive producer Christina Aguilera, Burlesque invites you to a club like no other: a hidden world beneath the city lights where sequins sparkle, seduction shimmers and lives can change in the flick of a feather boa—featuring powerhouse songs by Christina Aguilera, Sia and Diane Warren, alongside thrilling new numbers from Todrick Hall and Jess Folley.
Learn about the magic of fungi

Go mad for mushrooms at the second annual Birmingham Fungi Festival taking over Highbury Hall in the afternoon. From the Great Mushroom Treasure Hunt and Mushroom Murder Mystery to storytelling sessions and a textile workshop, there’s so much fun for all the family to enjoy. Make sure to check out the Mushroom Market and tuck into an array of Mushroom-themed food.
