If you haven’t heard of Seafood City yet where have you been? It’s the new Louisiana-inspired seafood spot from Vietnamese Street Kitchen and it’s coming to Birmingham very soon. A ‘seafood boil’ is best described as a barbecue but for shellfish and seafood. And we can’t wait to get our messy paws on it!
You could be among the very first to try VSK’s new ‘get down and dirty’ concept. Birmingham’s oldest pub, The Old Crown, is throwing a free-entry Mardi Gras party for Spring Bank Holiday weekend (Saturday, May 25) – yes we know Mardi Gras was, technically, back in February, but don’t let that get in the way of a good party.
Kicking off at 5pm, you’ll enjoy New Orleans tunes and Seafood City – which is opening this June over at The Arcadian – sharing a taster of their Viet-Cajun seafood boil in the garden. For just £15, get a plate of mussels, prawns, squid, potatoes, corn and garlic butter, dosed in their signature hot sauce. Just make sure to grab a bib.
The incredible Head Rush Brass Band will get the party going in The Old Crown’s gardens with a set of Mardi Gras tunes, as well as classic blues and jazz hits. DJ Mazzy Snape will then take over on the decks ‘til late. Additionally, a brand new cocktail and tequila menu will debut, with home-brewed house tequila, jalapeño, coffee & vanilla flavours among the exciting shots on offer.
To celebrate, The Old Crown and Seafood City will also be giving away £360 of free seafood to share with your friends on Saturday, May 25. To find out more, head over to The Old Crown’s Instagram page – with entries close on Monday, May 20.
