Nestled within the southern Brummie neighbourhood of Kings Heath is possibly one of the most incredible ice cream parlours you’ll find in the city. Specialising in deluxe soft-serve ice cream and Spanish iced lattes, The MilkCake Man offers some of the most unique flavour combinations out there. And they’re jaw-droppingly beautiful.
Their ice cream flavours are fun and playful just like their eye-popping colours and you’ll find everything from bubblegum to piña colada, matcha to charcoal coconut. But whilst they taste amazing, it’s the aesthetics that reel in the visitors in, especially with the addition of gorgeous flowers.
To take your sweet treat that one step further, bordering on extra, The MilkCake Man offers ice cream pots topped with crumbled Oreo soil, a chocolate flake and a fluffy cloud of pink candyfloss to create an unbelievably-edible cherry blossom tree dessert. And trust us, it’ll be hard not to resist getting a pic of this dreamy creation as it’s so wonderfully Instagrammable.
The MilkCake Man is about more than just fluffy clouds of deliciousness, however. The purveyors of aesthetically-pleasing desserts also allows you to customise your cone with tasty toppings like salted caramel crunch, honeycomb and going as far as adding a floating bed of candy floss.
As well as being a candy floss kingdom, this Kings Heath dessert shop also serves lavish lattes that’ll make an instant coffee want to be swallowed up into the ground. The MilkCake Man serves Spanish lattes- an espresso based drink with textured normal milk and condensed milk- but takes it up a notch by adding flavours such as rose and pistachio to produce a next level brew. The shop has even created a unicorn-themed one too featuring shades of lilac, blue and pink!
And with it being the dessert shop’s name, of course it specialises in milk cake. The Milk Cake Man serves fluffy sponges ranging in flavours from Biscoff to pistachio, Nutella to 24k saffron, Oreo to rose, which are then delightfully decorated and then a flavoured milk to complement the cake is poured over the top.
The shop, which opened its dine-in café in August 2021, can only be described as a pink paradise with it’s cherry blossom feature wall, rose-hued counter and pink, comfy velvet chairs. Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the High Street, it’s a dreamy spot to escape, plus ice cream makes everything better.
The shop offers takeaway and delivery service and boasts a brunch menu and patisserie-style treats in their café alongside their epic desserts. And if the the current offerings are anything to go by, The Milk Cake Man most certainly can!
