It’s one of life’s greatest concerns, do you eat before a show or after? If you eat before then you need to get food in, risk cutting into getting-ready time or spilling food down your nice outfit. Eat after and your tummy might be playing dubstep all evening. Well, the return of Birmingham Hippodrome’s pre-show restaurant should help alleviate these worries.
The Circle Lounge, formerly known as Circle Restaurant, will reopen tomorrow (August 10) inside Birmingham Hippodrome. The pre-show restaurant closed back in 2020 due to the pandemic. But while the Hippodrome has long since returned to hosting some mega-shows like musicals, ballet, comedy and more. We’ve been missing the enjoyment of the restaurant too.
Located on the third level of the busiest theatre in the UK, start your next visit with a sensational meal. The fully refurbished Circle Lounge provides the perfect space to catch up with friends and family before you take your seats. The new dining concept is run by the West Midlands-based company Tutto Apposto and influenced by Head Chef Angelina Adamo’s Mediterranean background.
Opening 90 minutes before curtain up, there’s plenty of time to tuck into a full-blown meal made up of sharing platters and small plates. But you can also stop in for just a few nibbles too. During the intervals, pre-ordered drinks and sweet treats will be waiting at your table for you. In for a matinee performance? Tuck into some afternoon tea.
A sample menu sees small plates start at £7.5 each, including such things as: Mozzarella + Tomato Arancini, Heirloom Tomatoes, Basil; Gin Cured Salmon, Cucumber, Kohlrabi, Yoghurt; and Pork Belly, Nduja Sauce, Red Pepper Puree, Courgette. While sharing platters (from £12 each)revolve around, cheese and chutneys, charcuterie and marinated vegetables. Sweet treats (£8.50) include a range of tiramisus.
