The independent food hall, Society Birmingham, is turning one next week and is celebrating with £1 dishes, a birthday-cake-inspired cocktail, and a special Society-themed quiz.
Taking place on Friday, September 4, Society’s Golden Hour (from 5pm to 6pm) offer gives you the chance to get your hands on a selection of dishes from across Society’s independent kitchens for just £1.
What £1 dishes can I try?
Pan-Asian pros Manzoku will be serving salt and pepper wings; Japanese sando specialists Shokupan will dish up chicken Caesar sandos; pizza masters Amore will be firing up margherits; and Indian street food heroes Asha’s will offer masala fries, alongside complimentary masala tea—all for £1.
If that wasn’t enough, the newest addition to Society’s street food roster, Bostin Burgers, will also be giving away free fries with every burger throughout the Golden Hour period.
“It feels mad that it’s already been a year since we opened the doors to Society Birmingham,” said Oliver Smith, Head of Operations at Society Birmingham. “We wanted our first birthday to be a proper celebration of the venue, our traders and everyone who has supported us over the last 12 months.
“Golden Hour is our way of kicking things off with a bang – getting all of our traders involved and giving people the chance to try some brilliant food for just £1.
“Throw in a birthday cocktail, a quiz dedicated to our first year and a venue full of birthday decorations, and it should be a really fun week of celebrations. We’d love to see as many people as possible come down and celebrate with us!”
What else is happening for Society Birmingham’s 1st birthday?
The bar team has created the ultimate birthday cake cocktail: Party in a Coupe combines Absolut Vanilla, vanilla and salted caramel syrups and cream, topped with thick vanilla whipped cream and hundreds and thousands. Plus, enjoy a Society Birthday Pale, brewed by big-name craft brewers, Deya, a 4.5% soft, juicy pale ale with tropical and lime flavours.
Putting guests’ knowledge of Society’s first 12 months to the test, Rocky’s Quizzes will also host the Big Fat Society Quiz of the Year on Wednesday, September 2, with special Society-themed rounds looking back at everything that’s happened since its doors first opened.
Society itself will be going full birthday mode for the weekend, with the venue dressed for the occasion, local DJs spinning soul, funk and house tunes, and plenty more celebrations taking place throughout the week.
