If you’ve ever wished you could take a trip under the sea and discover the delights of Bikini Bottom, then look no further as fans of SpongeBob Squarepants can experience it without having to leave Birmingham. Following on from the store’s pop-up Hello Kitty cafe, Stitch-themed cafe and Grinch-themed cafe at the world’s biggest Primark, SpongeBob Squarepants has now taken over the store with a cafe and collection to celebrate 25 years of this iconic Sponge and his pals.
The SpongeBob Cafe has opened its doors (above sea level) at Primark stores in Birmingham, Manchester and Glasgow, where fans have the opportunity to be immersed in the vibrant underwater world of SpongeBob Squarepants. From June to August, the cafés will feature décor inspired by the SpongeBob Squarepants television programme, so you can get a slice of the beach right here in Birmingham this summer.
Plus, the SpongeBob cafe at Primark will be serving up an array of limited-edition treats inspired such as Pineapple Under the Sea Bubble Tea, Kelp Crunch Waffle, and Chum Wings, straight from Plankton’s The Chum Bucket. Plus, as part of the partnership between Primark and Paramount, fans will even get to sample the famous Mr Krab’s Secret Sandwich.
Primark Director of New Business Development, Tim Kelly, said: “We’ve seen an amazing response from customers to our revolving cafe themes so far, so we’re delighted to reveal the next chapter with SpongeBob and Patrick in the limelight. At Primark, we’re always looking at ways to bring unrivalled in-store experiences to our customers and give them more reasons to visit their local store. We hope our customers in Manchester, Birmingham and Braehead love our latest offering, and keep an eye out for the next revolving theme later this year.”
As well as the cafe serving up SpongeBob Squarepants-themed food and drink, Primark shoppers and fans of the cartoon can shop from ranges featuring their favourite characters – SpongeBob, Patrick and Squidward – including the first ever summer matching pyjamas. Other products on sale include nightwear, sweatshirts, shorts and character socks.
Primark’s SpongeBob Café at Birmingham High Street has now launched, serving customers until August. Favourite characters including SpongeBob, Patrick and Plankton will also make a special guest appearances to stores in June and July.
The SpongeBob Café is open at Primark Birmingham High Street 9am – 6pm Monday to Saturday, and 10.30am – 4.30pm on Sunday.
