We love The Pineapple Club here at Secret Birmingham. From its always surprising signature cocktails to fabulous recreations of stone-cold classics, bottomless brunches and bespoke décor. It stand-outs in Birmingham’s densely populated cocktail scene. Its fresh and vibrant atmosphere saw it land on the Top 50 Cocktail Bars list earlier this year. And now it’s added another accolade to its name.
The Pineapple Club has been nominated for the best bar in Britain at this year’s British Restaurant Awards. This is the fourth annual awards, which is focused on raising the profile of British restaurants worldwide. There is a particular focus on new and up-and-coming establishments as well, with many of the nominations a modern reflection of Britain’s dining scene.
Elsewhere, Birmingham’s own Simpsons was nominated among the best vegan-friendly restaurants in Britain. With a focus on seasonal ingredients and creating contemporary classics, it’s plant-based tasting menu has become an eye-catching affair on the vegan scene. It faces tough competition, however, with Bristol’s Root and Brighton’s Kokedama also nominated. They will also face off against The Juice Smith (Surrey), Stem + Glory (Cambridge), Vegan E (London), HRiSHi, (Windermere), Belmond Le Manoir Aux Quat’Saisons (Oxford) Park (Chagford) and Holy Carrot (Knightsbridge).
The British Restaurant Awards offers real customers the opportunity to voice their opinions on Britain’s best. Nominations were chosen by Readers of Chelsea Monthly, The National Post, and members of the World Restaurant Awards Guide. The final votes are now open to the public to decide. All winners will be announced in London on September 12.
In the best bar category, The Pineapple Club will compete with Hyde Bar, Swift Soho, The Connaught Bar, Tayēr + Elementary, TH@51 and Pinch Bar (all London), as well as Hedonist and Jake’s Bar & Still Room (both Leeds), Lab 22 (Cardiff), Bramble Bar & Lounge (Edinburgh) and Public (Sheffield).
