Sure, there are plenty of restaurants and cafés in Birmingham you could go to but do they specialise in all things melted cheese? Luckily, Brummies can enter a paradise dedicated to the gooey and gorgeous ingredient with the arrival of brand new spot Melt Moseley, described as a “melted cheeserie”.
Nestled in the south Birmingham suburb of Moseley, the cheesy haven opened on March 5 and serves up a wide of selection of dishes to tuck into with melted cheese as the star of the plate. Expect grilled cheese sandwiches, fondue, breakfast, brunch and dinner all with a cheesy twist, as well as beer, wine and more to sip on with these Caerphilly-crafted dishes.
Some stand-out dishes featured on Melt Moseley’s menu so far include the breakfast and brunch dish of sausage (meat-free available) and egg baps stacked with a hash brown and melted cheese and served with a dunking pot of hollandaise sauce. It’s the divine decadence we need to start our weekend strong or finish on a comforting high. Guests can also get stuck into a Turkish dish known as Kuymak, which is a breakfast cheese fondue served with cubes of sourdough bread and either Lashford’s sausage ring or meat-free sausages.
As for the lunch menu at Melt Moseley, which runs until later in the day, you’ll find three different grilled cheese sandwiches oozing with that melted goodness. Choose from their Melt grilled cheese sandwich featuring all the cheese and served with a pot of house tomato soup; beef birria grilled cheese sandwich with slow cooked ox cheek and Melt’s cheese blend served with a rich dunking consommé; and lastly, a garlicky and cheesy creamed spinach grilled cheese sandwich.
And no melted cheeserie is without a fondue and Melt Moseley serves up a bubbling pot with their house blend of cheeses, which guests can dunk the likes of baby potatoes, pickles and cubes of sourdough bread into and get that oh-so-delicious and Instagrammable cheese pull. The café on Billesley Lane is also bringing a taste of Québec by serving the city’s classic cheesy dish poutine-fried cheese curds served on top of chips then covered in lashings of homemade gravy.
For extra indulgence, Melt Moseley offers divine desserts like ice cream, chocolate fondue or deep fried Oreos served with a pot of melted chocolate. After all that dairy deliciousness in the form of cheese and chocolate, we think it’s the perfect excuse for a lie-down.
