Craving an authentic taste of Japan? Skip the 6,000-mile flight and wait until KIBOU lands in Birmingham. The award-winning Japanese kitchen and bar is set to open its seventh restaurant—taking over the former Riva Blu spot on Temple Row—on Monday, October 12.
Bookings go live tomorrow (Friday, September 3) via the KIBOU website, including two soft launch dates on Saturday, October 10 and Sunday, October 11, with 50% off food. But before then, KIBOU Birmingham will be giving away free sushi platters to 100 lucky people on Tuesday, September 8.
Inspired by the ‘lucky’ number 8, get a first taste of the new menu, outside the restaurant at 61-63 Temple Row, from 12:30-2:30pm. Free platters will feature a selection of handmade nigiri, uramaki and sashimi. The team will also be giving away scan-to-win cards for everything from £50 vouchers to glasses of Sake.
KIBOU Birmingham
KIBOU will serve up classic and contemporary Japanese sharing plates, from chicken karaage, spiced pork gyoza and crisp tempura to sushi and sashimi, A5 wagyu beef, ramen, katsu curry, and teriyaki. Meanwhile, a standalone bar will serve Japanese-inspired cocktails alongside a list of Japanese whisky, sake, and umeshu.
Adding to the existing West Midlands site in Solihull, as well as restaurants in London, Cheltenham, Bristol, Cambridge, and Oxford, the new site at 61-63 Temple Row will be open seven days a week. KIBOU will accommodate up to 200 covers across a bar and lounge, an open sushi kitchen, main restaurant, and a private dining space.

The same design team behind all previous KIBOUs (Q&A Interior Design Ltd) will once more bring bold, colourful, Japanese-inspired interiors to the new restaurant. KIBOU Birmingham will also feature original hand-painted and digital murals by Gloucestershire-based artist Martyna Sabadasz.
