Craving an authentic taste of Japan? Skip the 6,000-mile flight and just wait until KIBOU lands in Birmingham this Autumn. The award-winning Japanese kitchen and bar is set to open its seventh restaurant—taking over the former Riva Blu spot on Temple Row.
KIBOU will serve up classic and contemporary Japanese sharing plates, from chicken karaage, spiced pork gyoza and crisp tempura to sushi and sashimi, A5 wagyu beef, ramen, katsu curry, and teriyaki. Meanwhile, a standalone bar will serve Japanese-inspired cocktails alongside a list of Japanese whisky, sake, and umeshu.
Adding to the existing West Midlands site in Solihull, as well as restaurants in London, Cheltenham, Bristol, Cambridge, and Oxford, the new site at 61-63 Temple Row will be open seven days a week. KIBOU will accommodate up to 200 covers across a bar and lounge, an open sushi kitchen, main restaurant, and a private dining space.
“We’ve had our eye on Birmingham for a long time, and we’re so excited to be growing our brand and opening our newest site in the heart of the city,” said Sam Horswill, Managing Director at KIBOU. “Some people may be familiar with KIBOU after having visited our nearby Solihull restaurant, and we can’t wait to become part of the Birmingham community too.”
The same design team behind all previous KIBOUs (Q&A Interior Design Ltd) will once more bring bold, colourful, Japanese-inspired interiors to the new restaurant. KIBOU Birmingham will also feature original hand-painted and digital murals by Gloucestershire-based artist Martyna Sabadasz.
