Inspired by one of Seoul’s bustling districts, a new restaurant is opening up in Birmingham and bringing plenty of tasty Korean flavours with it. Known for its diverse population, Itaewon is a huge melting pot of different cultures in one area, therefore boasting the most international food scene in Seoul…and the ultimate inspiration for this restaurant’s menu.
Located on Station Street, close to New Street station and one of England’s oldest cinemas, The Electric, Itaewon is a new concept from the people behind Wheat Bakehouse. The menu at Itaewon is where the blend of the different cuisines comes together as you’ll find both Korean-inspired, international crowd-pleasers and global favourites like burgers, wings and even the classic brunch dish Eggs Benedict reimagined with a twist.
Sandwiched in between pillows of super fluffy home-made buns (and with an established bakery these guys definitely not how to bake bread), Itaewon’s range of unique Korean burgers offer a taste of Seoul in every bite. Choose from the likes of a juicy Korean beef bulgogi burger or a crispy Korean fried chicken charcoal burger, all oozing with flavour.
As well as burgers, guests can tuck into dishes such as Korean fried chicken Eggs Benedict and honey mustard Korean fried chicken wings. And you cannot forget about dessert. Itaewon will be serving up sweet croffles (croissant waffles) as the headliner of its dessert line-up.
Extending the Korean influence to our drinks menu, the Birmingham restaurant’s signature drink is the refreshing ‘Itaewon Jito’, a cocktail made with brown sugar, lime, mint and a blend of rum and grape soju. The Itaewon team have also hand selected a curation of wines to complement each of their tasty dishes, including the Doppio Passo Primitivo, a medium red wine which matches perfectly with burgers and Antico Fregio Chianti with their fried chicken.
Itaewon has also partnered with Birmingham Brewery to offer a selection of locally brewed gluten free and vegan beer, ales and lager, a perfect pint to go with their mouth-watering burgers.
