If your dog, like ours, spends more time in water than on dry land, then we might have found the perfect trip for the both of you. To celebrate International Dog Day (August 26), GoBoat is offering a free water taxi service from Brindleyplace to the Roundhouse for all lovely doggos and their owners. There’s no need to book, just turn up at The Water’s Edge and keep an eye out for GoBoat. The water taxi service will also operate in the opposite direction. So need to worry about wearing your pooch out too much.
GoBoat is an eco-friendly, self-driving boating experience, where you’re the captain and you choose the route. But the free water taxi service will come with its own chauffeur. So you can keep both eyes on your best friend and make sure he doesn’t leap into the water! You will also be able to see Birmingham’s historic landmarks, like the ‘roundabout’ at the Old Turn Junction and the former wharves on Gas Street, as you travel the canals.
The free boat trip will run from August 22 to 26, between the hours of 12 and 2pm. Those that turn up on International Dog Day can also take up an offer of a free one hour boat trip with your pooch. Groups of up to eight people – and at least one dog – can charter their own GoBoat. Training will be given to those worried their sea legs aren’t quite up to scratch. One free boat will be available every hour from 9:30am until 7:30pm.
“We’re all dog lovers here at GoBoat and our customers often tell us how much their dogs enjoy being out on the water,” said Grant Sweeney, co-founder of GoBoat UK. “GoBoat is a dog-friendly activity throughout the year but what better way to celebrate our canine companions than to offer them and their humans a free VIP experience to enjoy together.”
Don’t worry if you are more of a ‘cat person’. GoBoat is also offering a 10% discount to everyone on weekday trips in August using the code: DOGSONBOATS. To learn more about the GoBoat experience head here.
