I’ve never been the biggest fan of guns, but even I’ll admit the Paris Olympics made shooting look cool. Between the nonchalant Turkish shooter, Yusuf Dikec, Korea’s ice-cold Kim Yej, and Great Britain’s Olympic record-breaking Nathan Hales, we’re ready to fire away this winter with the arrival of Clays in Birmingham.
Having made a name for itself as London’s premier clay shooting destination, Clays has opened the doors to its third venue in Birmingham’s historic Piccadilly Arcade. Clays’ signature virtual target shooting concept transports guests to a simulated British shooting ground, delivering fun and friendly competition in a stunningly realistic setting.
Choose from a collection of six fully digitalised games in Clay’s signature pegs. Or, new and exclusive to the Birmingham activity bar, guests can enjoy the Clays Arcade – a fast-paced gaming concept with five quick-fire shooting games, perfect for date nights, birthdays, or catching up with friends.
The Birmingham location will allow players to choose between a semi-private booth or the Clays Arcade, where they are then transported to quintessential British shooting grounds. Guests can book a semi-private booth via their sales team and the arcade is bookable online. You won’t be shooting any real guns, but Clays’ technology ensures maximum precision down to the sub-millimetre.
Tom Snellock, Founder and CEO of Clays said, “We’re thrilled to bring Clays to Birmingham, a city renowned for its appreciation of exceptional hospitality and unique experiences. The launch of Clays Arcade further underscores our commitment to innovation, whilst ensuring a reliable, safe, and enjoyable experience for all of our guests. With our thoughtfully crafted food and drink menus, we’ve created a space where people can relax, compete, and celebrate.”
Spanning three floors, the venue can host up to 500 guests and features two large bars, plus resident DJs every weekend, and a relaxed yet vibrant atmosphere. The interiors at Clays Birmingham draw inspiration from the British countryside, combining greenery and rustic charm with modern design to suit any occasion—from intimate gatherings to corporate events.
“Our vision for Clays was to create a space where the outdoors meets the indoors, blending the natural beauty of the British countryside with a sense of elegance and sophistication,” said Michaela Reysenn from KAI Interiors. “Subtle nods to the sport of clay shooting are present throughout the venue whether it be via the use of bespoke lighting, flooring, art, or wallpaper.”
What about food and drink?
The menu at Clays Birmingham is centred around sustainability and ethically sourced British produce. Highlights include the Clays vegetarian sharing platter with KFC (Korean Fried Cauliflower), seasonal vegetable pastry roll, sweetcorn ribs, loaded English crisps, and green olives; Clays’ signature pizzette range; and an extensive range of small plates, such as English trout ceviche, pork & venison scotch eggs, pulled-beef sliders, mushroom bao buns, and more.
To accompany the food, Clays offers a crafted cocktail menu that includes a Jack’s Orchard, a clarified drink made with Jack Daniel’s Apple Whiskey, fresh apple juice, and a hint of toffee and a Clay Burst, a refreshing mix of Beefeater pink gin, lemon, cranberry and raspberry tea syrup. Guests can also enjoy a carefully selected range of wines, craft beers, and more.
