Just a few months after Birmingham gained a new Michelin-star restaurant, we learnt that we were losing another. Well, at least for the rest of the summer. As of today (August 4), the team behind Carters of Moseley is in Evesham, close to Stratford Upon Avon, for a minimum of three months.
Carters have relocated into a glasshouse at Westlands UK, one of the restaurant’s key suppliers from Wednesday 19 July until September 2023. The entire team has moved in, where they’ll be surrounded by the produce that Carters use daily. Surrounded by living herbs, flowers and fauna, guests can enjoy a unique 9 servings inspired by the area’s natural bounty and Carter’s ethos of ‘ultra-British seasonality’.
Brad Carter said: “I’m thrilled to announce we are taking Carters to an incredible location over the Summer at one of my key suppliers, Westlands Evesham. We’ve always flirted with the idea of building a restaurant at Westlands with Will Boers the owner and operator. Every time we visited for inspiration days at Westlands, it always crossed my mind how good it would be to take Carters there, and now it’s a reality.”
What’s on the menu at Carters at Westlands UK?
For £75, the sample menu includes:
- Fresh Cheese & Nasturtium
Summer Tartare <Courgette Flower> - BBQ Flatbread <Glasshouse>
- Green Tiger Stripe Tomato / Cox Crab / English Cucumber
- Pollock / Cox Brown Crab <Taste of the Sea>
- 8 Year Old Dairy Cow & Grass
- Grilled Strawberries & Woodruff
- Red Brick > Countryside
- Herbal Treats
To complement the menu, award-winning mixologist, Rob Wood has designed three aperitif and three digestif style cocktails. These continue the hyper-seasonal mantra of Carters by using ingredients from the UK and showcasing the produce available from Westlands UK. The menu includes a recreation of James Pimm’s 1840 Gin Cup using his original recipe as a base, alongside Westlands’ herbs and English cherries and berries.
Brad added: “The menu here is complete sustainability – inspired by the herbs, flowers and plants of Westlands – in our usual style of complete circle, recycled cooking we will use whole shellfish, whole animals and seasonal fruits to create one-off unique dishes for our time in the glasshouse.”
“Think of the warmth in the tomatoes plucked from the vines and the intoxicating smell in the greenhouse they produce. Expect edible flowers, herbs and plants picked and harvested by hand within minutes of eating them, experiencing the optimum texture, flavour and peak freshness of the products in the environment they grow.”
