What a time Sophie Ellis-Bextor must be having right now. She’s always been an LGBTQ+ icon, but since the release of the instant cult classic Saltburn, the whole world’s been singing ‘Murder on the Dancefloor’ to itself. Now, the 90s pop legend will be headlining Birmingham Pride in 2024.
Thousands are expected to turn out to one of the biggest Pride events in the country. Taking place across two days (Saturday, May 25 and Sunday, May 26), Sophie Ellis-Bextor will be joined by the likes of Beverley Knight, Natasha Bedingfield and Jamelia at this year’s event – with the full line-up now released.
Along with the now legendary Birmingham Pride Parade through the city streets, a jam-packed weekend of musicians, drag acts and more will take over numerous stages at the main Pride site in Smithfield. This includes the Main Stage, Chic Dance Arena, Conrad Guest Cabaret Stage and Emerging Talent Stage.
“Birmingham Pride supported by HSBC are excited to reveal our FULL weekend line up!” said Birmingham Pride. “This year will be headlined by the amazing Loreen on Saturday May 25 and Sophie Ellis-Bextor on Sunday, May 26 on the Main Stage! PLUS some of the UK’s best cabaret talent on the Cabaret Stage and the return of Chic Birmingham to the Dance Arena!”
