Edgbaston Cricket Ground is as old as Greenwich Mean Time, the machine gun, and the Oxford English Dictionary. Established in 1884, it needs a little love now and again, with the stadium deep into its ‘masterplan project’—which so far includes the South & West stand redevelopment and the Corkfield apartment complex opening.
Edgbaston Stadium has now turned its attention to the next stage of its development. The £46 million project will see the Raglan and Priory stands become a new 3200-seater stand delivering improved spectator facilities, and a new four-star Radisson RED hotel, with hospitality boxes and pitch-facing rooms.

Having completed the initial demolition process of both stands in November 2025, the main construction work has now commenced, and completion of the project is forecast in time for the Men’s Ashes in summer 2027. Cork-founded Sisk will carry out the work, which was behind the Great Charles Street project in the Jewellery Quarter.
“The next stage of our masterplan project will help cement our city as a world-class sporting and tourism hub,” Stuart Cain, Chief Executive at Warwickshire County Cricket Club, said. “We’re looking forward to working alongside the SISK team to have the hotel and redeveloped stands ready for the Men’s Ashes in summer 2027.”

The new hotel development is projected to increase Edgbaston’s local community contribution to £40 million per year, rising to more than £70 million in a Cricket World Cup year. It will also create 134 new permanent jobs for people within the local community, adding to the 1,000 full-time roles currently provided by the stadium.
“This is an important milestone for the masterplan development, and is set to mark our most transformative phase yet,” added Craig Flindall, Strategy Director at Warwickshire County Cricket Club. “For us, this is about positioning Edgbaston as one of the most globally recognised sports venues and a year-round destination for not only world-class sport, but also for conferences, events, and local hospitality.”
