Is there anything more wintery than skiing? Weaving down the mountain, the icy wind fresh on your face and the sun glistening off silvery snow. Only to then warm your fingers in the lodge with a pint of pilsner or a glass of mulled wine. It sounds like the most heavenly winter holiday, doesn’t it?
Not everyone will have the chance – or money – to hit the slopes this festive period, however. But those dreaming of the French Alps or Zermatt in Switzerland might find their fix in Birmingham this December. A cosy, lodge-style apres-ski bar had popped up in the city on St Matin’s Balcony.
Sitting outside Bullring for the festive season, Après Ski Bar is open daily until December 28. It is serving a range of festive favourites including mulled wine, some special winter cocktails, hot chocolate and frosty steins of German bier. If that wasn’t enough, you can also refuel with traditional après ski-inspired dishes.
“We’re hoping Birmingham will love getting into the Christmas spirit here at Après Ski and that kids – big and small – will enjoy the festive atmosphere,” said Dion Cox, Managing Director at Leisure Events, the company behind Après Ski. “Whether it’s après work drinks with colleagues or a much-needed break from the seemingly relentless Christmas shopping, there’s a menu of winter warmers to suit all tastes.”
These wooden chalets and cable cars can fit up to 10 people inside. Making Après Ski Bar the perfect spot for some after-work drinks. Or somewhere for all your old-school friends to catch up this Christmas. But if you’re still in the mood to scratch that winter sports itch. You can always check out one of these brilliant ice skating rinks in Birmingham this Christmas before you head to the Apres Ski Bar.
Après Ski Bar is open 11am to 10pm on Monday to Saturday and 11am to 8pm on Sundays. To pre-book a chalet please you can message them via Instagram here.
