On Saturday, July 5, 2025, just 17 days before Ozzy Osbourne’s passing, Black Sabbath performed “the greatest heavy metal show ever.” The godfathers of heavy metal took to the stage at Villa Park—just a stone’s throw from where they grew up—for a now-legendary sold-out concert.
Joined by many of the musicians they inspired, including Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Slayer, Tool, Pantera, Yungblud and Papa (Ghost), this was already a once-in-a-lifetime gig, even before Ozzy’s death on Tuesday, July 22, 2025. It’s now gone down in history as Black Sabbath’s triumphant final performance.
But whether you got a ticket or not, it’s been the talk of the town ever since. Now you can relive Ozzy’s final live show with the release of the ‘Ozzy & Black Sabbath: Back to the Beginning’ concert film—just over a year after the historic gig—and it’s described as an “intimate farewell to Ozzy Osbourne and the band that changed music forever.”
When can I see ‘Ozzy & Black Sabbath: Back to the Beginning’?
‘Ozzy & Black Sabbath: Back to the Beginning’ releases in the UK on Wednesday, October 28, 2026. The 147-minute concert film will be on at most cinemas in the Second City, such as Vue, Odeon and Everyman, but you can catch it one day early at Birmingham’s only independent cinema.
