It might have been pretty pants over the past couple of years, to say the least, but if one thing has thrived in recent months – it’s our wonderful Brummie restaurants. And this bar and restaurant rivals the most Instagrammable hotspots in town… Bold statement, we know.
The pretty pink paradise that is 202 Kitchen was based at Pitsford Street in the Jewellery Quarter but it has now moved to a more central location that is The Arcadian Centre. And if their JQ location was anything to go by in terms of gorgeousness then their new city centre location certainly pulls out all of the stops to provide guests with that all-important ‘social media moment’.
With their soft-hued baby pink walls and neon pink lighting, we think they’ve definitely achieved Instagram status. From luxurious lounge room, to a stunning area that’s dripping in tropical plants– the venue isn’t short of photogenic spaces. Like their Manchester branch, you can expect beachy vibes as well as a slight nod to Miami Vice and Grand Theft Auto, minus the criminal activity (unless it’s illegal to eat too many chicken wings) and with more beautiful, pink décor at their new location.
But despite all of that, it’s the comfort food that really catches our eyes, with a trapbox-inspired menu packed full of drool-worthy dishes including ribs, fried chicken, wings, mac and cheese and more. For those not already familiar with the trapbox trend, it all began on social media – where amateur chefs would take to their platforms to share tasty looking snaps of their homemade grub piled up into a box.
The trend became so big, trapbox chef Prince Owusu successfully launched his very own Trap Kitchen back in 2017. Now, taking inspiration from the trend, 202 Kitchen serves up its hearty grub made by professional chefs as well as sensational small plates, putting the focus on the flavours and paying homage to their foodie inspiration.
Not only is the spot the perfect casual restaurant by day, but by night, guests can hang out with friends while sipping on tasty cocktails – with a carefully curated menu of 202’s very own creations to choose from. Fulfilling those sweet cravings is a classic dessert menu with a twist, featuring faves such as the chocolate brownie and Oreo cheesecake.
Bookings are advised to guarantee yourself a spot, and you can book a table here. 202 Kitchen has now opened the doors to its swanky city centre location and you can expect more beautifully pink aesthetics to come.
