If you’ve spent a night out in London’s Shoreditch area, you should have heard of XOYO. The nightclub is renowned for hosting the best up-and-coming local DJs, as well as plenty of established international talent. Now the venue is bringing its party know-how to Birmingham very soon. Get ready to dance as XOYO launches a sister venue in the Second City this autumn, XOYO Birmingham.
Cryptic posters reading ‘All we wanna do is dance’ popped up around the Second City last month, with QR codes taking curious ravers to the new XOYO Birmingham website. While on Instagram, XOYO Birmingham said: “With its unwavering dedication to local talent and an ethos rooted in inclusivity, XOYO Birmingham is set to redefine the city’s nightlife experience… Celebrating international stars, while shining a spotlight on our city’s homegrown talent and an atmosphere of inclusivity. A dance floor that welcomes everyone.”
Now we have some more details about this new club and it’s way bigger than we expected. XOYO Birmingham will take over three sites on Lower Trinity St in Digbeth to create a multi-room venue with a total capacity of nearly 3,000 people. The dynamic nightclub will spread across five standalone spaces too: XOYO (main room), A/V, The Roof Garden (open air), The Factory, and The Yard (open air).
The opening parties will take place on September 15 and 16, giving ravers the chance to see the whole complex in its entirety. To celebrate this launch, XOYO Birmingham is giving away 1000 free entry tickets (500 on each night) and then a further 1000 tickets (500 each night) priced at just £5. The first night offers a distinct nod to its sister venue, XOYO London, with a lineup featuring Fabio & Grooverider, Charlie Tee, Ed Solo B2B Deekline (Jungle Cakes Takeover), 4AM Kru (Live), Crazy P, Dr Banana B2B Laidlaw, and more. While the Saturday features some of the region’s best homegrown talent with the likes of Russke, Shaqfive, Girl Grind UK featuring Mystic Meg, Melly and Namywa, Day Day, Boxout with Buxley, Amplify Sounds, and much more.
Plus there’s plenty more to get excited about going forward. Globally renowned promoters including Cafe Mambo Ibiza, Pure Garage, Percolate, Louder, Cirque Du Sol, and Hospitality are dropping by through autumn. While some of the DJs taking to the decks include Interplanetary Criminal, Yung Singh, Shy FX, Todd Edwards, Ben Hemsley, Roger Sanchez, Goddard, Danny Howard, Charlie Tee, Stanton Warriors, Metrik, Roni Size, Sammy Virji, Keyrah, MPH, Benny Page and many more.
From September 22, weekly, in-house XOYO Fridays promise affordable, intelligent programming, while live music acts will also find a home at XOYO Birmingham.
