West Midlands Railway (WMR) has urged passengers to plan their travel ahead of two days of industrial action taking place this weekend. On Friday, May 22 and Saturday, May 23, a very limited service will be in operation due to members of the TSSA trade union striking.
Passengers are advised to only travel if necessary, as trains will only run on a small number of routes on the WMR network. A reduced timetable will operate, with no trains running after 7pm on Friday, while there is a later 7am start of service on Saturday morning.
“We are doing all we can to minimise the impact as far as possible and apologise to customers for the inconvenience,” said Ian McConnell, WMR managing director. “However, where services are running, we advise customers to only travel if necessary and to allow more time for their journey.”

Some minor disruption is also expected to services on the morning of Sunday, May 24, due to the displacement of trains. The routes with a limited service on Friday, May 22 and Saturday, May 23 are as follows:
- Cross City Line (Lichfield Trent Valley – Redditch / Bromsgrove via Birmingham New Street) – 2 trains per hour
- Wolverhampton – Walsall via Birmingham New Street – 1 train per hour
- Rugeley Trent Valley – Birmingham International via Birmingham New Street – 1 train per hour
No trains will run on any other WMR route, including all routes via Birmingham Snow Hill, the Camp Hill Line or between Nuneaton and Leamington Spa. If you have a ticket dated for these days, you can use it either one day before (Thursday, May 21) or one day after (Sunday, May 24).
