We don’t have to whisper it any longer. Christmas is coming. It’s three months from now, so it’s time to start planning for markets, presents, decorations and, of course, light trails. Even the legendary Warwick Castle – which is nestled in the Warwickshire countryside, only 40 minutes from Birmingham – is already getting into the festive spirit.
Warwick Castle will be kicking off the festive season on Saturday, November 23 with the return of its popular Christmas Light Trail. Set to illuminate the castle and its picturesque grounds once again, it will be sticking around until January 5, 2025. Anyone visiting this 1,000-year-old castle after dark will become immersed by larger-than-life illuminations during a 45-minute trail.
Working alongside creative agency T3, Warwick Castle is calling this its “biggest Christmas Trail to date, with this year’s illumination promising to be bigger and more spectacular than ever before.” It spans over one mile and features over 40 breathtaking light displays and thousands of shimmering lights – with tickets to this winter wonderland starting from £22.
David Harding, Director of T3, says: “Our festive Light Trail has become a beloved tradition, and we’re excited to welcome families back for another year of unforgettable moments under the starry night sky. From the Nutcracker-inspired entrance to the breath-taking displays on the castle itself, as well as the uplifting festive music, there’s something magical for everyone to enjoy.”
Visitors can expect an immersive trail full of twinkling trees, stunning projections, and enchanting displays. For those wanting a quieter visit, on December 9, Warwick Castle will host a sensory-friendly version of the event – with no flashing lights, while the music and sound effects will be lowered and adapted for a comfortable experience for all.
Warwick Castle’s Christmas Light Trail is part of a wider ‘Christmas at the Castle’ event, with an array of activities suitable for the whole family. This includes an open-air ice rink; storytelling sessions with Father Christmas and Mrs Claus; and festive short-break packages with their very own present-filled, elf wake-up calls!
