Voted one of the best beer gardens in the country last year, The Canal House was beloved by all Brummies. Boasting beautiful views of the canal basin and a huge outdoor terrace in the summer, as well as roasting fires for the winter, it was the ideal spot for a refreshing drink no matter the weather. And just like *that* it’s gone.
The Canal House has been replaced by the popular cocktail bar and restaurant, The Botanist – which already has a location on Temple Street in the City Centre. Known for its famous hanging kebabs, botanical-themed interiors, and twinkly lights, expect it to fill every need – from hearty midday lunches to live music and late-night cocktails.
So what happened to The Canal House? Not a lot actually, as they were owned by the same company – New World Trading Company. Many of you might notice the new signage outside and some extra shrubbery inside, but we’re sure many wouldn’t have noticed at all unless we pointed it out!
“Although we’ve enjoyed great success with The Canal House, we have an immensely popular proposition with our flagship brand, The Botanist, and want to make this easily available to our lovely customers at Brindleyplace,” said a spokesperson for New World Trading Company.
“Renowned for innovative cocktail making, feel-good food, live music and uplifting interiors, we think both locals and tourists will delight in having The Botanist on their doorstep. As with our city centre location, the renewed bar and restaurant promises a vibrant yet relaxed atmosphere ideal for date night, family get-togethers, after-work drinks, laid-back evenings with friends and celebrating special occasions.”
With live music every weekend, a bingo night with a twist on the first Wednesday of every month, and a spread of Mediterranean-inspired cuisine, we don’t expect our love of this canalside bar to dip. To learn more about The Botanist head here.
