It’s safe to say that Birmingham is best described as a concrete jungle, compared to say a normal jungle. But The Woods brings a passion for the wilderness to the streets of Solihull, offering a different sort of nature escape to the town. The independent coffee shop is filled with overgrown greenery and dedication to minimising its environmental impact. Plus, things like speciality coffee, brilliant brunch dishes and some sensation sweet treats of course.
Soon residents of Birmingham will also find some much-needed peace in nature, by heading down to The Woods at The Mailbox. This second location, Restaurant at The Woods, will focus on serving great, forest-inspired food as well as cool cocktails and drinks at the bar. Expect a menu full of ingredients foraged from the woods, while the interior will look like one giant woodland.
To create a unique experience and get people of all ages to be excited about the beauty of nature, The Woods will also reflect the changing seasons throughout the year. Meanwhile, helping to preserve wild places, it tries to make as minimal impact on the environment as it can. Some of the initiatives include using local suppliers, biodegradable or compostable packaging, renewable energy sources, and cutting down on animal products that impact the environment.
While no specific opening date has been given, Restaurant at The Woods is expected this July. Work has only just begun on turning this two-floor space into a wild and wonderful woodland retreat. It said on Instagram: “After two years of hard work, we have managed to secure shop No. 2. This time we are planning the same theme but as a restaurant and bar. We can’t wait to take you all on this journey.”
The much-needed nature retreat we need in Birmingham City Centre – we should all know the positive impact plants can have on our stress levels – Restaurant At The Woods will open on July 31. To learn more about The Woods head here.
