If you haven’t hopped on the padel hype train yet, don’t fret, because it still hasn’t left the station. In fact, the UK’s fastest-growing sport (with a growth of over 2,500% between 2019 and 2025) is only getting bigger and bigger. Padel club operator Pure Padel will open central Birmingham’s first indoor facility in January 2026.
Pure Padel Birmingham, located on New Summer Street in the Jewellery Quarter, will be the company’s first club in the Birmingham area, with a Solihull venue to follow in March—joining established clubs in Alderley Edge, Manchester, Darlington, North Leeds and Stockport.
What is padel?
The Mexican racket sport is a bit like tennis, except that it uses smaller, enclosed courts, and balls can be played off the walls (a bit like squash). Players (usually in doubles) also use smaller, solid paddles and slower, less bouncy balls. You can only serve underhand, but other than that, the rules are basically the same as tennis.
What will Pure Padel Birmingham be like?

The state-of-the-art venue will repurpose an old Land Rover Jaguar engineering plant into the padel club. Expect five doubles courts and two singles courts, along with a food and beverage space, social areas, and fully equipped changing rooms. The venue will also be available for corporate event hire.
With no member fees, Pure Padel enables players to play as much or as little as they choose without the constraints of the traditional sports club model. Matches will be on a ‘pay to play’ basis, allowing players of all abilities to book and play from 7am right through to 10pm.
New to padel? Through its ‘Open Matches’ tool, the Playtomic app will enable padel matchmaking by allowing first-time or solo players to find and play with others of a similar level. Padel coaches will also be available for all levels, from beginners to intermediate and even advanced players.

“We’re thrilled to be bringing Pure Padel to Birmingham and to the Jewellery Quarter. It’s an up-and-coming area, and we’re excited to contribute to its regeneration by converting this former Land Rover Jaguar plant into a premium indoor padel facility,” said Sammy Arora, Founder and Managing Director at Pure Padel.
“The indoor courts will allow year-round play, while the vibrant social and F&B spaces make it a perfect venue for corporate events. With Birmingham’s growing business community, we see huge potential to build a new padel community and provide a central hub for both leisure and corporate players!”
Players can also now sign up for early bird access to the Birmingham site to be among the first to experience this new venue here.
