Ozzy Osbourne meant so much to Birmingham that it can be easy to forget the global influence the ‘godfather’ of heavy metal also had on the world. This weekend (Saturday, February 28), The BRIT Awards 2026 will remind us all of his inimitable impact and influence on music, honouring Ozzy with a Lifetime Achievement award.
The founding member and frontman of Black Sabbath, Ozzy, reunited the heavy metal pioneers for one last charity gig at Villa Park last summer. Heralded at the time as the “greatest heavy metal show ever”, Ozzy Osbourne sadly died just a few weeks later (Tuesday, July 22).

With over 100 million worldwide album sales, five Grammy awards, countless iconic tunes from ‘Paranoid’ to ‘Crazy Train’, his own successful touring festival Ozzfest, and induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice (with Black Sabbath and as a solo artist), Ozzy Osbourne is one of music’s most influential icons of all time.
Ozzy famously hosted The BRIT Awards in 2008, along with his family. But this time, to mark his Lifetime Achievement, an all-star rock tribute performance of ‘No More Tears’—the title track from Ozzy’s multi-million selling 1991 album of the same name—curated by Sharon, will close the show on the night.
This performance will boast a phenomenal line-up of British and international musical talent, featuring musicians who played as part of Ozzy’s band over the years: Adam Wakeman, Robert Trujillo, Tommy Clufetos and Zakk Wylde; and be fronted by Robbie Williams.
“Ozzy Osbourne has been a mighty force in modern music,” said Stacey Tang, Chair of the 2026 BRIT Awards Committee. “Possessing an unmistakable voice and unique presence, he reshaped the sound and spirit of rock, inspiring generations of artists who followed. This Lifetime Achievement Award recognises a remarkable legacy built on originality and enduring influence, that continues to connect with fans worldwide.”
The BRIT Awards 2026 with Mastercard will take place on Saturday, February 28, from Manchester’s Co-op Live, broadcast exclusively on ITV and ITVX and hosted by Jack Whitehall. For the first time, UK viewers can also watch the show on ITV’s YouTube channel.
