The odds are that you or someone very close to you has been affected by cancer. In the UK, almost 1 in 2 of us will be diagnosed with some form of cancer in our lifetimes. So the importance of knowing the signs and symptoms of cancer cannot be understated.
To raise cancer awareness and help with early detection, an NHS double-decker bus is touring the Black Country next week (Tuesday, May 5 to Saturday, May 9) to offer free health checks. The cancer bus tour offers the opportunity to speak directly with healthcare professionals.
Drop in anytime between 10am and 4pm to speak with the team to learn about how to recognise potential cancer symptoms, get advice on what to do if you are concerned, and find out about local support services. Information will also be available on breast, bowel and cervical cancer screenings
The NHS cancer bus is organised by the NHS Black Country Integrated Care Board and NHS Birmingham and Solihull Integrated Care Board, in partnership with local NHS organisations and councils across Birmingham, the Black Country and Solihull.
Free health checks will also be available, including blood pressure and blood sugar testing.
