A new brewery is coming to Digbeth—and you can get involved in its opening. New Invention Brewery made its first beer in Bloxwich all the way back in April 2019 and is now only a few brews away from its 500th batch. But what started as a small independent brewery is now ready to make a huge splash in Birmingham.
Having taken over a huge new space at 148 Adderley Street in Digbeth, New Invention is already hard at work transforming the empty unit into a brewery-cum-taproom—with street food, unique events and a constantly changing range of New Invention beers on tap.
But there’s a lot of work to be done until that dream becomes a possibility. As of writing (Tuesday, September 29, 2026), there are 33 days left to donate to New Invention Brewery’s Crowdfunder—which has a target of £15,000. In the meantime, you can still check out the existing Bloxwich taproom (that’s going nowhere).
What will the money go towards?
Essentially, the money raised will help turn an empty industrial unit into a functioning brewery and taproom. With the lease already signed, New Invention Digbeth is 100% happening, but the Crowdfunder just means it can get off the ground a little faster. With funds going towards:
- brewery infrastructure and drainage
- cold storage and cellar equipment
- bar and beer dispense equipment
- seating and furniture
- lighting and finishing works
- signage and branding
- improvements to the outdoor drinking area
- countless finishing touches
What benefits are there to donating?
Rewards start from just £10 and include exclusive merchandise, bar credit, brewery experiences and plenty of one-off opportunities. There will also be a limited Supporters’ Preview Night, as well as your name permanently displayed on a New Invention Supporters’ Wall.
For £10, you can get a welcome pint, while for £2000, you can actually brew beer with the team. You can also name your own Digbeth-brewed beer (£250), grab an exclusive T-shirt (£30), or get a £750-worth bar tab at either brewery for way more than you support (£500).
