National Express is introducing a new daily and direct service between Bideford, Barnstaple, Taunton, Bristol, Cheltenham and Birmingham from Monday, July 13—offering a more reliable and cost-effective transport option during the busy summer period.
With the rising cost of living and holidays abroad, there is an appetite for closer-to-home UK travel at the moment—with nearly eight in ten people (79%) planning a domestic trip in the next year, according to VisitBritain. So why not visit an area of the country many Brummies often overlook?

To get to north Devon currently, you’re looking at a minimum of 1 change on the coaches, if not more, and a 10-hour journey. Or you can get the train to Exeter, where you will have to hop on a bus anyway. The 105 service will cut this down to a six-hour trip, while saving you money.
“This new service gives people a simple, direct link between the Midlands and north Devon at a time when many are choosing to holiday closer to home,” said Neil Collins, Director of Coach Network Planning at National Express. “We know people are being more mindful about how they spend, particularly when it comes to holidays.”
What can I do in north Devon?

Unlike the calmer waters of south Devon, in the north, you will find a world-class surfing destination in places like Woolacombe; make sure to take a ferry to the wild Lundy Island; and Clovelly is a picturesque, traffic-free fishing village with dramatic cliffs and cobbled streets. And it’s all within easy reach of Bideford!
How can I save money on this trip?

Perfect timing: the new 105 coach service launches shortly after National Express announced 100,000 discounted one-way fares across its UK network as part of its ‘Summer of Yes’ campaign. Between now and September, take advantage of day trips and short breaks for £7 or less on selected routes across the network.
Neil adds: “Coaches can offer a comfortable and sustainable alternative to driving, so whether it’s a seaside break, a city visit, or catching up with friends and family, we’re making it easier for people to say yes to all of their summer plans – without having to compromise on the experiences that matter most, or worrying about the cost of travel.”
