Look, the less I say about Birmingham’s bins, the better—but if you’re looking for a way to smile about it right now, then why not have some fun with this new competition to name a new bin lorry in Birmingham?
Waste management company Divert.co.uk is opening a new depot in Birmingham, and to celebrate, they are inviting the local community to help name one of their iconic purple bin trucks.
The winning name will be added to the cab of the truck and announced via the Divert website and social media channels. Alongside this, the company will make a £100 donation to the winner’s choice of charity.
Whether it’s a pop culture reference like ‘Peaky bin-ders’ or a local nod such as ‘The Bull-Bin’, almost anything and anyone is welcome to take part. But the company especially wants to hear from Brummies.
“Naming our bin trucks is a great way to bring some joy to the local community,” said John Verity, Managing Director of Divert. “We hope to bring a smile to the faces of passing drivers and pedestrians as our fleet passes by.”
What are the rules?
Ideally, names should have a nod to Brum, whether that’s celebrity puns, local namesakes, or just downright silly names. No swearing or offensive names, please, but aside from that, feel free to go wild!
How can I enter?
Simply fill out the form on the Divert website here before the competition closes at 5pm on Friday, June 26. Winners will be voted for internally, with the judges keen to see creativity and local pride in the entries.
