Look, I’m WFH, so I can’t remember the pains of commuting anymore. But for many, that’s not an option, and travelling to and from work every day is part of the weekly slog. If you’re looking to move out of Birmingham but can’t, or don’t want to, find a job elsewhere, then these commuter towns might interest you.
RightMove has taken a look at the most popular commuter towns (where buyer demand is hottest) from Birmingham—focusing on towns and cities with at least 20,000 inhabitants that are within a 45-minute rail journey from the Second City. It has also included details on house prices and the fastest travel times.
Who are Birmingham’s most popular commuter towns?

Leamington Spa—the happiest place to live in the West Midlands, fyi—is the most popular commuter town among Birmingham buyers. Properties in this historic town generate 55% more enquiries than those in Birmingham itself. This is followed by Warwick (38%), Rugby (32%), Solihull (28%) and Wolverhampton (23%).
If you’re looking at speed, Solihull offers an extremely fast 10-minute journey into Birmingham Moor Street, while Wolverhampton reaches New Street in around 17 minutes. But it will only take 25 to 30 minutes from Leamington Spa and Warwick—with most offering around two to three services per hour.

If price is what’s driving you away from Birmingham, though, then these might not interest you. Solihull (£423,377) and Warwick (£374,555) are both way higher than the Birmingham average (£245,613). In fact, only Wolverhampton (£229,094) was priced lower than Birmingham.
