It’s the end of an era. After ten years of music, food, drinks and good times, one of Moseley’s most distinctive nightlife spots is shutting its doors, but not before one last party. The Cuban Embassy closes on Sunday, September 27, 2026, after a final weekend-long celebration.
For a decade, the former Bull’s Head on St Mary’s Row has been transformed into a little slice of Havana in Birmingham—serving up Cuban cocktails, rum, Latin-inspired food and live music while becoming a familiar home for musicians, DJs, promoters, partygoers and the wider Birmingham community.
The venue has hosted everything from Latin nights and live bands to hip-hop, R&B, reggae, dancehall, Afrobeat, garage, country and alternative music. Its house band, Rhythms Del Toro, has become a Saturday-night institution, bringing audiences to the dancefloor week after week.
The Cuban Embassy has also played host to the annual Birmingham Rum Festival, which also celebrated its own tenth anniversary in 2025, as well as countless birthdays, weddings, private parties, gigs, and club nights. Now, after ten years, the Cuban Embassy will be going out with one final hurrah from September 25 to 27.
What’s next for The Cuban Embassy?
This is the end for the building in name only. While The Cuban Embassy closes, its legacy, and The Bull’s Head’s, lives on. Details of what comes next are being kept under wraps for now; the team behind The Cuban Embassy has confirmed that the venue will return under a new brand and a new identity. Stay tuned.
