It’s not been the summer we’ve hoped for, but Millennium Point knows how to bring a smile to our faces whatever the weather. The award-winning iconic landmark venue is brightening our days with a line-up of incredible events celebrating some equally iconic stars – including Taylor Swift, The Rolling Stones and Spice Girls – over the next few months.
This week alone, the multi-use venue squeezes in two incredible events as part of Birmingham Jazz & Blues Festival. On July 20, kick back to a screening of Martin Scorsese’s visionary Rolling Stones concert film, Shine A Light – with a free entry performance from Jimmy Regal & The Royals beforehand. Then, the following day (July 21), there’s the legendary marketplace for new and used records and music memorabilia, Moseley Record Fair. Plus, an energetic live performance from Ben Toury!
If pop music is more of your jam, Millennium Point has you covered with a high-energy homage to Taylor Swift, Miss America, on August 10. If you didn’t get tickets to The Eras Tour, this tribute is the next best thing! You can expect all of Taylor’s greatest hits – from country ballads to pop bangers – alongside a friendship bracelet-making and glitter tattoo station.
Turning up the volume on ‘girl power’, celebrate 30 years of the greatest girl group, Spice Girls, on October 19. The Spice Girls Experience will transport you back to Cool Britannia by not only performing the original girl band’s biggest hits, but encapsulating the entire Spice Girls phenomenon with dance routines, costume changes, and 90s-themed props. Oh, and there will be prizes for the best 90s outfits, so dig out your Union Jack dresses!
Lastly – for something completely different – Millennium Point has a special screening for Birmingham’s horror fans for Halloween. A 40th-anniversary screening of A Nightmare On Elm Street brings Freddy Krueger – a true horror icon – to Birmingham’s biggest screen at Millennium Point, with an exclusive recorded introduction from the star himself, Robert Englund.
