Let’s face it: The UK festival scene isn’t what it used to be. From rising costs to lower turnouts, and a million other challenges faced by promoters, we’ve seen a wave of significant UK festival cancellations in recent years. That’s why Birmingham’s very own MADE Festival is futureproofing itself.
After 11 years, welcoming more than 150,000 partygoers, Birmingham’s biggest festival has teamed up with renowned West Midlands promoters Weird Science. Together, they’re launching a brand-new summer series of festival-style daytime parties in their spiritual home of Digbeth.
The new format sees six massive shows lined up from May to September, with some of the biggest names in dance music, alongside the West Midlands’ hottest rising talent, stopping by Brum. Kicking things off on May 31 is the viral DJ sensation – best known for playing clubland classics in his dressing gown on TikTok – Fish56Octagon.
With an encyclopedic knowledge of electronic music, Fish56Octagon has amassed a huge online following across the world thanks to his quirky, passionate and well-informed posts. But, taking the party offline, he’s also performed countless sold-out shows and festival slots.
With his biggest headline show to date, the ‘Undercurrents’ event at Digbeth Arena will be the perfect way to kickstart the ‘MADE Festival and Weird Science Presents…’ summer series. Between 4-10:30 pm, you can look forward to an “epic daytime journey through quality dance music” with Fish and a still-to-be-announced lineup.
MADE Festival said: “Our commitment to showcasing incredible art, music, and local talent remains stronger than ever, and we can’t wait for you to be part of this journey.” Details surrounding future ‘MADE Festival and Weird Science Presents…’ events will be revealed shortly. Tickets for ‘Undercurrents’ are on sale now, and you can get yours here.
